Math Unit - Volume / Skills Review
This unit first reviews perimeter and area before introducing volume for rectangular prisms. Students will use a variety of models to understand the concept of volume and will then learn and apply the volume algorithm. For the final project, they will create a three-dimensional town whose buildings demonstrate what students have learned about the volume of rectangular prisms.
This unit ends with a review of major concepts covered at this level including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division involving fractions and decimals; finding the volume of rectangular prisms; working with polygons; and graphing on a coordinate plane.
