This unit provides a conceptual foundation for fractions and then moves on to more complex thinking related to them. Throughout the unit, your child will identify, name, and show fractional parts in a variety of ways, including using pictures, words, and number lines. Once she understands what fractions represent, she will begin to compare different fractions and will explore simple equivalent fractions. As well, your child will explore the role of fractions in the real world, including fractions of time and money. For the unit final project, she will create a BINGO game that shows fractions in a variety of ways.
