This unit on addition and subtraction expands on the work with basic computational skills that your child practiced during Unit 3. Here, your child will work with the Associative Property of Addition and will learn how to add three numbers together. As well, he'll continue to explore how we read and write in mathematical language and will further his work with a variety of addition and subtraction problem-solving strategies, including counting on, making 10, and creating easier or known sums. For the unit's final project, your child will create a series of "Missing Number" signs.
This unit requires the following books:
- If You Were a Minus Sign by Trisha Speed Shaskan
