Having a solid understanding of the different states of matter is foundational for future scientific inquiry and discovery. This unit will introduce your child to the three most observable states of matter* — solids, liquids and gases. Your child will learn to distinguish among states of matter, how to transform matter from one state to another, and how states of matter can be used in the world. The final lesson explores the role of different states of matter within the body.
This option provides online access to the States of Matter curriculum. You will also need the required literature for this as well.
* Other states of matter, such as plasmas and Bose-Einstein condensates, are respectively too hot and too cold to exist on Earth. They are not included in this unit.
