This literature-based homeschool curriculum, Social Studies Unit - The Power of People, teaches students how government works at the local, state, and federal levels, while celebrating the impact of leaders throughout history. Students will research a historical figure and create a wax museum exhibit to highlight their contributions. Hands-on projects like mapping community resources, interviewing local leaders, and simulating elections deepen understanding and appreciation of civic responsibilities and active citizenship.
Presidential Elections and Other Cool Facts introduces young readers to the history and process of U.S. presidential elections, covering everything from who can run and vote to how the Electoral College works. With fun trivia and insights into key elections, like the dramatic 2000 race, this book explains primaries, caucuses, and third-party candidates in an engaging way. It emphasizes the importance of civic engagement and encourages readers to be informed participants in the democratic process.
