Communities Change Over Time
Age 7-9: Concept 2 - Change: Unit 2

In this unit, your child will examine various elements of culture and learn ways that technology and progress have influenced changes in culture over time. She will watch as a single street is transformed from prehistory to modern day, and she will leave her own mark on history by creating and burying a time capsule.

This unit can be used independently but is designed to be used in conjunction with the Communities and Cultures literature unit.

Prerequisites

  • Able to read and comprehend chapter books on a 3rd or early 4th grade reading level
  • Can answer comprehension questions about a chapter in a journal
  • Able to write three or four sentences on a topic
  • Usually used by children in third grade
