We have been getting organized. In the Language Arts book, it says that spelling words can be found in the Appendix. Yet, there does not seem to be an Appendix? What am I missing? We have two in the 8-10 curriculum and on in the 6-8.

Hi Thomas,

The spelling words for ages 7-9 and higher can be found in the back of each of the literature units. They are not in the science or social studies units, but they are in the back of the literature units.

The Age 6-8 Spelling Words are a mix of the words from the 100 Words to Read and Spell Poster and words that you will be given throughout each unit as you go through the activities.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hello, I am having the same issue with not having spelling words in the Ages 8-10. (We are currently using the Concept 3-Unit 1 Language Arts book and I have looked at every page in the book to be sure I wasn't missing them.) We also have the Ages 10-12 curriculum and the spelling words are at the back of the book behind the lessons as advised. The Ages 8-10 Concept 3 - Unit 1 book does not have spelling words. Please advise. Thanks!

Hi Michele,

Our Spelling program is now online for ages 7-9, 8-10, and 9-11. You can find them by going to your Moving Beyond the Page account: www.movingbeyondthepage.com/account Once logged in just click on the /Online tab. You will see access to your spelling program there.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,

Thank you for your prompt response. Unfortunately, because we chose the physical curriculum, when I attempt to view the spelling lists (using the link that you provided), the webpage informs me that I do not have access to any learning gates. It seems that I should be able to access the spelling words since they were not provided with the curriculum that we purchased. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Vicki,
I have questions about the spelling program and how it works. I purchased the program seperately, but I think I should've already had access since I purchased the full printed curriculum. Anyway, this is new for me since last year we used the spelling words from the back of the books. I see that we take tests online. What do we do the rest of the week? Do I see what words were missed and study those? He took two tests before we understood that he was probably supposed to be studying the words offline. Am I understanding how this works?
Thank you,
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Our spelling program does work differently from traditional spelling programs. In a traditional spelling program, first you practice the words, then you take the test, and then you never see those words again. Our spelling program starts with the quiz, then you provide any needed practice, and students will get to practice problem words all year long.

After a student takes a quiz, you should review any missed words with your student. We provide a list of spelling patterns for each word that may help as well. If you want to provide additional practice such as writing missed words five times each or using those words in a sentence, you certainly can. Regardless, students will be reviewing those words many times over the course of the year. We focus on the words that students struggle with most, and the more words student miss, the more practice they will get.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have additional questions.
