Vicki,

This year we completed the 11-13 "Light and the Eye" unit with another family. They used the online version while we had a spiral bound. I noticed that there material had a more recent copyright date, used different books, and had different questions and experiments. Is this typical for the 12-14 online vs. bound units too? Which materials are the most up-to-date and user friendly?

Also, can the unit tests be printed off on the online units? My friend said that, on online units that had expired, she was able to look at everything but the unit test. Note that I wrote 'look at' and not 'print'...she knew that was not an option unless she renewed the unit.

Thank you for letting me know as we prepare for the upcoming year. I want the absolute BEST materials for my student. We will be using the 12-14 SS MBTP units.

Hi Gay,

It does sound like your friend had a newer version of some of the units. Occasionally, a book we use will go out of print. At that point, we work hard to find a different book, and we modify the lessons to correlate with that book. The modifications are made to both the online and hard copy editions. This link will take you to a page where you can see any changes that have been made, and when they were made: http://www.movingbeyondthepage.com/curriculum/unit-change-log.aspx?ageID=15

It looks like in this case, books went out of print, and then new books were added in August of 2016, September of 2016, and October of 2016. If your curriculum was ordered before that, then you received your order before those books went out of print. If your friend ordered after that, she received the modified versions with the replaced literature.

Once an online unit is activated, the student activity pages (including unit tests) are available to print for 3 months. Once the 3 months are over, the unit is available for review of the lessons for a year.

I hope that helps with your questions. :-)

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,
Vicki

Thank you so very much Vicki. I did not know about the link for changes/updates to the units. That is very helpful.
