The lesson on acronyms includes many examples of initialisms, and erroneously calls them acronyms.

Thank you for your comment. This activity was changed recently to include both traditional acronyms in addition to initialisms (since the original activity included only initialisms). Note that initialisms are typically included under the definition of acronym (see a dictionary entry for "acronym"). At lower levels, the distinction between the two is less important -- they are both a specific kind of abbreviation that students should be aware of. We do make the distinction at the high school level, however.

Thanks for the response, but I strongly disagree, and I'm disappointed your stance is that making the distinction between the terms "is less important," especially since you tout this curriculum as being appropriate for gifted students. I hope you'll reconsider, and that you'll align your materials with Google Dictionary, dictionary.com, and most dictionaries as opposed to the handful of dictionaries who conflate the two distinct terms.
