Africa workbook not matching reading material

Ok, I'm about to pull my hair out. We just started the Africa and Asia unit and the workbook questions aren't lining up with the pages of the reading material (if it's even covered at all). Was I given an updated version of A True Book, Africa? One . . .
In order to get started I need to know which part of the order is the book and which is not. For example we have the BFG so I would cancel Age 8-10 - Concept 2: The BFG, but keep Age 8-10 - Concept 2: Literature Unit - The BFG? Is that correct?

Spelling Words

We have been getting organized. In the Language Arts book, it says that spelling words can be found in the Appendix. Yet, there does not seem to be an Appendix? What am I missing? We have two in the 8-10 curriculum and on in the 6-8.

Alternative to Thousand Paper Cranes?
